Djuki Mala @ Brunswick Town Hall

Wednesday 16 – Saturday 19 March, 7pm & Sat 3pm, $45/$40/$20

Direct from Elcho Island, Djuki Mala (Djuki meaning ‘chooky’ with a Yolngu accent and mala meaning ‘mob’) perform a high-energy and stunning fusion of traditional Indigenous culture, contemporary dance and storytelling.

Live at the Library

Friday 18 March, 6-8pm, FREE

Drop into Brunswick Library for a free early evening showcase of local musicians. Already lined up are local alt country legend Tracy McNeil, newly formed local acapella group Ladychoir and Pink Tiles who play a winning blend of fuzzy garage rock and 1960s bubblegum.

Goin’ Back: Moreland’s History in Song @ Mechanics’ Institute

Friday 18 March, 8pm, Saturday 19 March, 2pm $35/$30

For this show, Moreland songwriters have been invited to pen original songs inspired by photographs from Moreland local history archives. Goin’ Back will illuminate the historical characters, places and events of Moreland and Darebin’s and exhibit evocative images from Melbourne’s most populous songwriting postcodes.

Furbelows Swing Party @ Spotted Mallard

The Furbelows are the ultimate 1930s party band. Drawing on inspiration from intricate vocal bands such as The Mills Brothers, The Andrews and Boswell Sisters, and the fiery guitar work of the French gypsy virtuoso Django Reinhardt.

For this special show, The Furbelows team up with Melbourne’s most beloved tap dancer Thomas Wadelton to bring you a night of high intensity swing music, heartbreaking romance and utterly contagious fun. Get your fix of three-part harmony vocals and tootsy bandy twists, and be taken on a joyous journey in good, old-fashioned style.

Cumbia Massive – Brunswick Music Festival Closing Party @ Brunswick Town Hall

Cumbia Massive is a Melbourne collective dedicated to celebrating the tropical music of Latin America and the Caribbean in the style of the sound system parties that erupt on the streets of the Mexican ‘barrios.

This year Cumbia Massive team up with BMF to bring you the most explosive local talent in tropical music to close the 2016 festival.
